COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Computer engineering (also called electronic (or electrical) and computer engineering, computer science & engineering, or computer systems engineering is a discipline that combines both electrical or electronic engineering (the terms vary in different parts of the world) and computer science.Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering, software design and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture.

QUALIFICATION

Students who wish to pursue a career in computer science and engineering need a strong foundation in both mathematics and science, particularly chemistry and physics. To become a computer engineer one should have a graduate degree (B.E / B.Tech) or postgraduate degree (M.E) or at least have a diploma in Computer Engineering. A Diploma holder in Computer Engineering can become a junior engineer in various public and private sector jobs .
Masters Degree in Computer Engineering is required for teaching. The basic eligibility criteria for a BE / B.Tech in Computer Engineering is 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The eligibility for Diploma in Computer Engineering is 10 + 2 with Science Subjects. After bachelor's degree, one can go in for a post graduate degree; i.e M.E/ M.Tech. The eligibility for ME/ M.Tech in Computer Engineering is BE/B Tech in Computer Engineering. The Associate Memberships of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE) also offers courses in computer engineering in distance mode, equivalent to BE/B Tech provided by other institutes/universities. There are various universities and technological institutions in various parts of our country offering PhD programs in computer Engineering.

SCOPE IN INDIA

Computing professionals might find themselves in a variety of environments in academia, research, industry, government, private and business organizations -- analyzing problems for solutions, formulating and testing, using advanced communications or multi-media equipment, or working in teams for product development

SCOPE ABROAD

The Computer Engineering field is wide open because of the rapid changes within the computer
and telecommunications industry. Have you asked yourself, of all the concepts, I have learned thus far, what do I enjoy doing most? If, not that is where you need to begin. The jobs will be there, but aim at preparing well for the job you enjoy doing.

If, you are creative, enjoy the challenge of working with Java, then think about the position of Java Software Engineer. If, you enjoy the challenge of working with different systems, databases and correcting problems then think about the job of computer Systems
Engineer. Or, perhaps you like the challenge of beating hackers, spammers, and the like, how about Computer Security Engineer? Then, there is Computer Network Engineer, Computer Systems Integration Engineer or Computer Systems Validation Engineer. These are only some of the possibilities.
